The Communist Conspiracy Against Central America

For several years now, peace in the Republic of El Salvador and in other countries of Central America has been disrupted by the so-called “urban guerrillas”, groups operating under this or any other name. A campaign is being intensified in the region beginning in El Salvador and financed with monies originating from the “Bolivarian cells” that have the political and financial support of the Venezuelan government of Lt. Col. Hugo Chávez. Venezuela’s budget for 2008 includes the sum of $200 million to help “alternative movements” in Central America and México.
What is happening in Central America, especially in El Salvador is, more than dangerous, it is highly threatening. Guatemala might be experiencing the same degree of danger. Historically, in the Twentieth Century El Salvador witnessed considerable communist infiltration with armed sectors that unleashed violence. The Farabundo Marti movement was nurtured since the early 1930’s by a strong current of international communism which had a strong influence in the life of that country. To this must be added that the movement had ramifications throughout the Central American isthmus and connections with the communist currents that from the early 1920’s were working inside the Cuban nation, attributing most of what was taking place to “idealistic youths.”
The live forces of Central American democracy should take timely action, before it is too late, to protect Central American democracy, to protect the children and young people from this communist conspiracy that grows deep social and political roots among adolescents and youths. The leaders of democracy in the Central American countries must be on the alert with respect to this conspiracy that today nurtures itself from all that the totalitarian Marxist-Leninist tyranny of Fidel Castro has been, from the “Bolivarian” regime of Hugo Chávez, from the regimes of Evo Morales in Bolivia and Rafael Correa in Ecuador.
Central America is an extremely important geopolitical region in the Western Hemisphere. Therefore, it is imperative that not only the Central American democrats, but also the democrats from the whole Hemisphere endeavor to denounce the enemies of liberty in time and, of course, to combat them.
