Ros-Lehtinen Comments on Chavez Offer, from Iran, to 'Reset' U.S.-Venezuelan Relations
U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Ranking Republican on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, commented today on the Venezuelan leader’s offer to ‘reset’ U.S.-Venezuelan relations. Statement by Ros-Lehtinen:
“The Venezuelan leader’s statement that he would consider ‘resetting’ relations with the U.S. lacks any credibility and borders on laughable. He makes these pronouncements as he visits Iran to expand an alliance focused on undermining U.S. efforts worldwide.
“But we must not let Chavez off the hook. We will not allow him to sweep under the rug the ongoing violations against his own people and his regional neighbors, nor his violations of regional and international obligations.
