Special Report on the 26 new Laws by Decree issued by the Government of Venezuela
TORRES PLAZ & ARAUJO Special Bulletin on Decree Laws 2008 1
Introduction
At TPA, we consider that the enactment of 26 Decree-laws, under the framework of the Enabling Law, is an extremely relevant aspect for our clients and concerns. This has led us to assess the most significant aspects of the new laws from a technical, multidisciplinary viewpoint.
Along these lines, a series of internal discussion meetings were staged, where a speaker would present the law and the remaining professionals would analyze its implications and its connection to others that had already been presented. The conclusions from such discussions were taken down and each speaker later prepared a summary, which went on to become the document we are now submitting for your consideration.
The purpose of this bulletin is not to issue a value judgment or exhaust the aspects involved in each Law, and it cannot be considered an opinion on specific cases, but should merely be seen as a summary of a large part of the outcome of the internal discussions that we sustained on these laws and wish to share with you.
These discussions also brought about a series of presentations, for which we have made available a series of slides. We are also prepared to hold these presentations at your offices or ours, as you prefer, and we will gladly share our vision, adapting it to the realities of each particular scenario.
We hope this work proves useful as an informative element for its readers.
